"For a club of our size, it had to be scalable; offering flexibility, visibility and accessibility were important too. We needed something secure as well as easy-to-use and Pitchero ticked all of those boxes".
After the past hassle of captains collecting match fees and the club manually needing to bank cash and manage who had paid what, it was time for change. In Matt’s view, it’s all been worth it:
“The experience has been very good. We’ve hit our targets of what we thought would happen. It’s been very popular with the members, particularly the ability to spread subscriptions over months.”
They use GoCardless and like the immediate notifications about any cancelled or refused payments so Sutton Coldfield can take action: “That’s led to the debts going down significantly for the club.”
The beauty of managing data online efficiently through Pitchero is that, once set up, it can take pressure off volunteers: “You’ve got up-to-date information that your members have completed rather than you having to chase.”
From Matt’s perspective, more clubs should be doing online payments because it saves time; that most precious commodity for a volunteer at a sports club.
“Definitely. With our club, it’s reliant on volunteers, the idea for us as a club moving forward is that we need to maximise the benefit of their time. It’s a finite resource. We need to make sure we make maximum use of the tools available, that cuts out a lot of wasted effort on their behalf.”
